Per-Pixel Lighting Might Almost Be Finished!!

Thanks to the very interesting discussion over in GP&T I think I've got RM/POM cracked - or at least I'm satisfied that my observations aren't wildly wrong. Basically, enough to satisfy the length and detail I want to go into in my text...

Anyway, to add something interesting:

Techniques | ps_4_0 instructions |
Normal Mapping | 9
Parallax Mapping with offset limiting | 15
Ray-traced POM/RM | 68
Ray-traced POM/RM with self shadowing | 114

A fairly obvious jump in complexity for the two ray-traced alternatives. As part of the chapters conclusion I'll be doing a rough analysis on this sort of thing...

Will see about uploading some screenshots over the weekend.
