So, I finally got around to emailing XBox360 tech support about my 360 not working right. This is my email:
Quote:
Almost every game disc I insert fails to load *not detected or it loads a white screen stating for me to insert it into a XBox 360 console.* If it does load it usually locks up with in an hour or two. I've tried all of my games as well as some games that I've rented *a total of 7 I believe.*

Every DVD movie that is inserted loads the same white screen telling me to insert it into a XBox 360 console *I've tried about 18 DVD movies.*

It may not be important, but the message seemed to start appearing after I tried playing "Hunter: The Reckoning" for the original XBox. Though, I'm not certain that has anything to do with it, as I removed my harddrive and there was no improvement. The only other thing that I did near the time was connecting it to my computer *I did this a day or two before the messages started appearing.*

Again I'm not sure if it's important, but the console is less than 90 days old *my order was shipped from dell.com on September 29, 2006.*

Everything else works perfectly; I can download and play arcade games, listen to music, chat, etc.

Thanks,
Donald Beals

And they're reply:

I do apologize for the inconvenience. When you play a game an error message says "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console." The message will appear in multiple languages". This occurs because the console cannot read the disc correctly. Check if these conditions are true:

Disc is dirty
Disc is damaged and cannot be recognized
A hardware component is malfunctioning

Try these troubleshooting steps in order to resolve your problem:

1. Turn the console off, and then turn the console back on.
2. Clean the disc and look for flaws or scratches
3. Try three other games, and then try the original game again.
4. Test the disc in a different console if you can.
5. If only one disc is affected, replace disk at retail.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact Xbox Customer Service.

1) How am I supposed to check to see if a hardware component is malfunctioning?
2) The only troubleshooting thing I didn't directly or indirectly state I did was #4. I said I tried several different games and DVDs which answers question 1, 2, 3, and 5.

I waited two days for this; SCORE!

Project MalykAIAs I said, everything is up and working now (except for the GUI, but I'll get that later.) I also fixed an issue with the map editor (I wasn't calculating the screen-to-world coordinates right.)

Project CraussNew project here. Working on a single project for 12-16 hours a day just drains me, so I'm starting in on one of my queued projects. Project Crauss it's going to be a 2D RPG, most likely similar in style to RPGMaker 2000 games. It's one of the precursors to Project Asrion; it'll be used to lay down the foundation for the series. I'm still working on some of the details; I'll post more info soon.

I'll probably be spending around 6 hours/day on each project. I'll do my best to keep it even so that one doesn't see more progress than the other.

Omg, I forgot all about my other project that everybody has been waiting for -_-. I'll finish that before moving on to Crauss.

Ok, I've done literally tons of tile engines and I've just now come to the realization that working with a system where the top-left is {0,0} just isn't natural. Take a small map for instance. In a system that works with the top-left being at {0,0} would make your map be in the corner. However, if I make the origin at the middle of the screen and 'center' my map on that, it'll look great.

I think for Crauss (MalykAI won't have to worry about it as I don't plan on having any maps that are smaller than the screen) I'll stick with what I have and just implement a small hack (center the map if it's too small.) Then, when I move on I'll come up with something new.

About the XB360 "tech-support": These guys are just paid to post answers from a premade database. You need to go to the secondary or tertiary level past those goons to get any real help. ;)

[lol], that's what I hear.

Btw, I assume this means that you can read everything now? I hope so, because if you can't I'm stumped as to what the problem is lol.

All of the Hunter games were mastered shittily on the cheapest discs they could find -- they screw up my Xbox1 as well, with skipping audio, dropping cinematics and misfired script events due to silent failure of loaded data.

The problems don't persist after I eject the games however, although my Xbox's DVD drive has certainly seen better days (Thompson drive [crying])

I actually never had a problem with them on the regular xbox, just the 360. I put the disc in, it told me there was an update for it, so I downloaded and installed it and the problem seemed to start very shortly after.
