Have a good holiday, everybody!

I'm about to head back home to the merry metropolis of Melbourne for a traditional family Christmas - bustling around preparing for several days, a big festive lunch and then chilling out for about a week because it's too hot to do anything else (I'm lookin forward to the chilling part).

As such this will probably be the last journal entry for 2006. I might swing by the forums occasionally, especially since I'm hoping to do some planning and game design work for 2007, as well as check out more of the 4E5 contest entries, but given I suspect I'm hanging around the forums too much for my own good I'll be trying to cut back, especially with the Lounge.

In 2007 I'm going to try to be a bit more professional about my game development, and so I'm hoping when I plan out the year to figure out a good scheme to be a bit more productive than this year. I'm fairly certain I'll stick to developing 2D cartoony games for all of next year (and possibly forever, it's a good format that too many developers overlook the potential of). I hope in 2007 to get as far as a 2D side-scroller worthy of the shareware era of PC games in the early 90s. I'm also hoping to write up a proper game design or two for practice. I'll post more details in January once I've had a chance to put a bit more time into the planning side of things.

May you all have a good festive season, and a great new year!
