MVP Summit 2007

Just booked my flights to the 2007 MVP Summit in Seattle [grin]

GBP368.80 return in sardine class is about as good as I could of hoped for - I paid GBP550 to go to the last summit and the price has been fluctuating north of GBP400 for the last month or two.

Whilst I'm probably going straight to hell (do not pass go, do not collect GBP200) for destroying the environment it is quite remarkable that we can travel from one side of the planet to the other for a mere GBP184.40 [wow]

Microsoft arrange events from 12th March through to 15th March but I'm going to be in Seattle from the 7th through to the 19th - giving me an additional 8 days to do some sightseeing.

I got given a Seattle guidebook as a Christmas present so I've been working out the things I want to do, but now I know exactly when I'll be in Seattle I can start to plan it properly.

I really REALLY want to get out to Snoqualmie Falls - but I don't know if public transport can get me that far out of the city. I think I could quite happily spend a lot of time visiting the areas around Seattle rather than the city itself, but I doubt that'll be easy to organise.

Wonder if the GDNet-Seattle group is gonna be active...

Jollyjeffers I'm not sure how good a price that actually is but its a lot cheaper than I personally would have imagined!

I'm considering going to the states at somepoint this year (money permitting) and hope to find a flight as reasonably priced as ~£400, but then you have other expenses to consider too.

Well I paid £550 to go to the previous summit 18 months ago, but I bought the tickets much closer to the actual event. For the last couple of months it's been flicking around £410-£470 from what I've seen.

You can get cheaper flights if you want to go via Canada or if you don't mind a quick hop over the pond followed by an internal flight. I wanted to keep things simple and fly direct and that makes it a bit more expensive.

Sounds good - will have to keep an eye out for anything going on whilst I'm there.

Cheers,

Public transport in Seattle is doing good to get you around in the city. There's no way it'll get you to Snoqualmie pass. Even getting to Bellevue (just across the lake) is difficult. You might be able to get a ride up on a ski bus or something.

Thanks for the info - although not what I wanted to hear [headshake]

Cheers,
