Gooey Goodness

Does anybody other than 'PC' from the Mac commercials actually pronounce that as 'gooey'? Personally I say GUI.

Anyway, I finally got back to working on my GUI system and it's coming along nicely. I've gotten buttons, check-boxes, and dialogs working. Buttons and check-boxes aren't anything special, but the dialog supports being dragged about and resized via grabbing the bottom right corner.

Here are some screenies:
screenshot006.png - Starting out
screenshot007.png - After being dragged and resized
screenshot008.png - Overlaid over my old map mockup.

Now that I've got the 3 easiest ones out of the way, I need to start working on the fun ones, like text-boxes, list-boxes, split-buttons, etc.

Back to work...

-edit-
You may notice that in the third screenshot the buttons' Quit text is red. The GUI uses the same bitmap font system as the rest, so it supports all of the color formatting.

I also forgot to do a label control class; added to my todo list.

-edit-
Btw, I was only 14 minutes late with my Ascension breakdown! 10 points for Donny.

Pretty much everyone I've met says "gooey". Gee You Eye has too many glottal stops to be comfortably spoken by a native Anglo-Saxon English speaker.

Yeah, gooey it is (although I tend to just drop the G and say U.I.). Atleast I don't recall that I ever told someone I was a G. U. I. programmer before..

Screen shots look pretty nice, I like the reflection effect.

Do you have a plan to make use of lots of GUI elements in the game? Or do you just enjoy that part? I've now myself redone my game UI pieces a few times (from static -> xml based layout -> to now LUA based scripting of the UI).

I plan to use the GUI elements in my games as well as their in-game editors. However, I do enjoy working on GUI coding a lot.
