Started level design yesterday:

That is, until I realized that there are still some bugs to fix. For instance, the Robot Guards can apparently see through walls, which I forgot to fix initially. Also, the Robot Overlords' collision data needs to be fixed, because Blocky Man currently gets killed if he is standing in an empty space next to a Robot Overlord.

I think I can still get this level done by the end of the week. I would really like to get started on the final level, "Round World". I have some really good enemy concepts already planned for the level.

Man, this is looking good. I am seriously impressed with your giant robot. You've gone straight through programmer art and out the other side into a whole new genre of your own.

Keep this up. I can't wait to play this game.

These robot levels actually look pretty good for programmer art. Maybe it's just the style fitting in with the theme.

Thanks!

I think to a certain extent I am getting better at drawing sprites, but I also think it has to do with the level. The background of the level looks quite impressive in-game, due to the parallax scrolling.

I think it looks fun.

One thing that I would say about the backgrounds is that they are too bright. In general, you want the backgrounds to be more subtle colors in 2d, so it's obvious where the foreground vs background stuff is.
