Back early

Got back a day earlier than expected due to an appointment cancellation. I left Redbridge in Essex at 5:30am today to get to Swansea for about 10:45am, was in Swansea until about 2:30pm then got home at about 10:00pm. Harsh.

I did, however, spent most of the hours and hours on the train reading my Direct3D book and I have to say it was really useful to spend some time with it away from the computer.

Some little lights are flickering on in my head as far as the maths is concerned, although I still find the equation notation stuff quite hard to follow since I've never had any kind of maths background apart from school stuff many (many) years ago.

The stencil buffer chapter finally clicked today though and I think I might play around implementing the mirror example they describe.

I've got "Introduction to 3D Game Programming with Direct3D 9". Anyone know if "Advanced 3D Game Programming with Direct3D 9" is any good? Not meaning to run before I can walk, just wondering if anyone has read it and could outline some of the stuff it covers.
