Just bought myself Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for a tenner. I'm actually really impressed. I've had a run of buying games recently that were really disappointing to play (Thief 3, Deus Ex 2) and am quite blown away by how much fun Chaos Theory is.

My only complaint is that, like a lot of games with night vision mode, the game looks so much better with night vision on that I'm just running around a big green world but there you go. I'm having to run it on 640x480 with everything turned off so my GeForce 6 can cope, so I guess it would look better with a better card in normal vision mode.

Generally top-notch though. A bit linear in the levels I've played so far, but a sterling effort. Well done to all involved.

Actually fired up VS and started to write some code the other day (gasp) but lost interest quite quickly. I am feeling a bit more on the verge of plunging into a new project at the moment though, which is good.

Job-wise, still nothing. I've only got this week and three days of next left now and we have a four day weekend coming up for Easter. All feels a bit rubbish being here at the moment watching all the leads and enquiries coming in. Still, that's business I guess.

[EDIT] Maybe some good news workfront-wise. There's a company just up the corridor from me in the centre that have invited me to go spend a day with them later in the month to see if I think the job would suit me. Sales, but far more grounded in IT sector than my current job, so may well suit me well, although a lot more stressful than my current job I think. Fingers crossed - just nice to have some good news as have been getting a bit down about the situation recently.

I generally liked splinter cell. I did have some problems with the VO cutting out in places though, which made it difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do in a level (this is where it would have been nice to have current missions available as text somewhere). The thing that I really liked was there hacking minigames. I thought they were fantastic; Nothing too complicated or time-consuming, but there was a certain degree of skill necessary to solve them quickly.

Is the hacking good? Haven't got that far yet. I was pretty impressed with the lock picking - much better than Thief 3's lock picking. That was just annoying.

I'm glad to hear the hacking is a bit more involved than the Deus Ex "Press the hack button and wait" approach. Not that I'm dissing Deus Ex, but I always felt the hacking could have been made more interesting.
