Excellent summary. Only comment would be to change "tarball" back to something else, as it's already defined in the computer jargon world as "several files mashed together using the Unix TAR command".

yeah. it's unfortunate, though, because a ball of tar tends to stick things to it, which was why i picked the term in the first place.
