Waiting waiting waiting

Still no news on the job I'm really after, but I spoke to the guy and no news is indeed good news. He's just too snowed under and going through some changes to the business. Reckons it will be Monday before I can hope to hear anything.

I've moved the other opportunity to go have a sample day with the other company back a week since I don't want to go in there until I know one way or the other about the first job. Think if I went in while waiting to hear, I'd have a bit of a negative attitude to it, plus don't want to waste their time if I'm going somewhere else.

Hate this bloody bloody limbo. I finish this job tomorrow, then have nothing to do for a fortnight while I finish my month in lieu of notice. I don't mind leaving this job, I just want to know what I'm doing next.

Hopefully I can maybe use these two weeks to get back into some programming. Just haven't been able to get motivated recently. I feel like I'm right on the verge of a whole new era of game programming now I've made my first tiny steps into 3D but I just can't seem to take the plunge and start writing something.

Sure I'll look back on this phase of my journal entries in a few months and crack a few smiles.

Does this 'plunge' entail writing more 3D-learning-demos or writing an actual 3D game? In either case, try just sitting down and planning out what you want to do. Any task can seem too daunting or painful to begin simply because your goal for it aren't clearly defined.

And good luck with the job. [smile]

Very small game, ideally. But what, I don't know. Perhaps I should just write some more learning demo stuff for a bit till I get more confident.

At the other extreme, I've been seriously thinking about getting back into the whole console-mode text adventure engine/language thing recently. I still think there is room in the world for one more text adventure scripting language.
