...and then three come along

(I assume the subject/above might not mean anything to non-brits, but it's relevant nonetheless)

So after moving to London over about 6 weeks ago I now have internet access to my main desktop PC.

We took Sky up on their Phone+TV+Broadband offer but for various crappy reasons its taken a bloody long time to work.

Then, when we had a nice shiny new Netgear wireless router delivered and working (now I was impressed with the kit Sky gave us) I find out it uses WPA security - something my rubbish Belkin PCI card built in 2002 can't really handle. It's one thing having NO internet, it's a whole different ball-game if you've got internet but lack the hardware to use the damned thing [headshake]

So, I bought myself a Linksys USB adapter - despite being wireless I have to attach it to a nice long wire to place it in a position that can actually get a signal [rolleyes]

I now have my older desktop PC with access, my work laptop with access and my Vodaphone V1640 with wireless access. Rob/Phantom - my Windows Mobile Phone > Your Windows Mobile phone [razz]

Yeah, so I wait 6 weeks and now I have to choose which device to use it on. Soon I'll hook up my Vista machine to the intarwebnet as well, giving me a choice of FOUR ways to waste time!!

Oh, probably should report this somewhere official but browsing to GDNet's homepage on my mobile device crashes the browser [lol]

Anyway, less lame journal entries - I have 771 newsgroup posts and 1500 emails to read. Thankfully about 1501 of those emails will be ways to impress my non-existant girlfriend/wife/mistress [grin]

I'll try and post something interesting about my D3D10 work soon...

GDNet loks completely fubar, but thats better than crashing my phone (i don't have square brackets on this keyboard, so just imagine your choice of emoticon here)

1500 new emails? Yikes!

Which email provider do you use?

Oh, and why not replace the network card in your main machine? Maybe I missed some detail but just buying a new network card is probably easier than dealing with a crappy wireless connection...

I use a couple of custom email accounts - none from standard ISPs. One of those accounts has pretty much become unusable due to the amount of spam it receives so I probably should just remove it from Outlook!

I have a perfectly good gigabit LAN card on the motherboard, just that I'd rather go wireless because the router is at the other end of the flat and it'd just be a pain to wire it up properly...

My Wireless adapter has been a bit flaky, but give it some time and it settles down it seems. If it starts messing me around then I'll go back to wires.

LIES - your screenshot has no [ ] keys on it [razz]

And, yes, I do actually agree - your WM phone is better than mine. Mainly because you can actually use it as a phone! The one I've got is so frickin huge your arm would ache holding it to your ear for any length of time [lol]

You have to push the 'sym'/'tab' key and then select them from an onscreen list, the point is I can do it however [grin]
