What's new, pussycat?

Final Exams

I have my two most difficult exams completed at this point, but three more remain. Once these are finished up I should be a little more in the clear. I've just been too busy/drained to be posting much these weeks. [smile]

Stencyl Collisions

This is the main time-sink. I've been working hard on the collision detection system for Stencyl very hard on a daily basis, and things are slowly coming together. It's almost purely debugging work, so it's pretty stressful. Still, I hope to be done this by the time my exams finish, giving me the chance to get my next project started in sync with my co-op term this May.

Membrane Massacre

The downloads keep on pouring in! The new version has received about 1300 downloads so far, and the counter is still pushing forward. I'll be submitting MM to a dozen or so freeware sites in the coming weeks, so I can only hope for even more positive feedback! [smile]

The Summer

I know I'll be very busy with both co-op and my next game project. What about you? What are you planning on working on in the coming months?

Hey Hopedagger --

I finally downloaded Membrane Massacre, and I really only have one thing to say:

Why the heck didn't I download it earlier? Seriously, what a fun game. I always thought it looked interesting, but just kept putting the download off. My mistake, won't happen again. I have spent a lot of time laying waste to those gelatinous fiends and it still has a very crisp feel to the gameplay.

In short, if this was shareware, I would have bought it hands down.

Excellent work, please, finish your library and get started on the next game. Now.

You'll have to read my journal to find out [smile]. Good reminder though that it's a change of season coming up, although for me it's heading into winter. If I don't scribble down a good plan for what I need to be doing in the next five months I'll end up hibernating (at least mentally). I suspect my brain is solar powered.

I've only just noticed your comments on Stencyl; it looks like a nice game maker program, but I don't know a lot about it from the website. I am a bit concerned that all the demo games seem to be based on existing titles, especially the use of those sprites (is that legally kosher?). It seems everyone in the journals is working on an engine of some kind in recent times.

I'm planning on being naked a lot. Drinking beer, too.

Oh yeah.

shadowcomplex: What's keeping you from sending Steve a few bucks through PayPal? I'm sure he'd reinvest the cash in pizza for his gamedev club, but still.

@shadowcomplex: Thanks! It means a lot to hear that you both enjoyed the game and took the time to let me know that you enjoyed it. On your end, Warmage is still looking awesome -- I can't wait to give it a good playthrough. [smile]

@Trapper Zoid: Arr, winter. I find the winter harder to be productive in, so good luck fending off the allure of hibernation! Now that you've teased me, I'll have to give your journal a thorough readthrough -- it's been a while too long since I've done so.

@Ravuya: Erk, no thanks. Don't send me any money because of MM because: a) the FMOD license I'm using forbids it, and b) it's freeware. I don't want your stinking money. [grin]

I'll accept all donations on behalf of HopeDagger and put the money to good use for my summer petition to have the children that the Christian children's fund holds hostage in those death camps, set free. With just 76 cents a day we can free these innocent children from the exploitation and tyrrany of the Christian childrens fund... [depressed]

[lol]

Nope two words for this summer : Work Work.

At the job and continuing to work on my engine and the game Barricade.
