regarding this:
I highly reccomend looking into using the DataGridView class instead of ListViews, as they are far more robust when dealing with tabular data.
Pair it up with a typed DataSet and bingo, you've got an Instant Ramen Database.

So. . .this is a game written in an authoring system that compiles to smalltalk that compiles to Java that runs on a virtual machine that runs in a plugin that runs in my browser, correct?
I suddenly feel the need to fire up VirtualPC just so I can add another layer.

Technically, the java applet simply loads in and runs the compiled smalltalk, but otherwise, yes.
