Helicopters

To cheer myself up after my recent work woes, I got myself one of these incredibly cool minature remote controlled helicopters.

It is awesome. I paid about GBP25 in a shop but I reckon you could get one cheaper on the internet if you were happy to wait.

I really can't recommend it hightly enough. I'm off to experiment with weighting the nose to see if I can improve the forward stability.

Bonus prizes for identifying the music on the video clip of the site I've linked to.

Yay, minature remote controlled helicopters.

[SLIGHTLY LATER]

I can confirm that bluetack on the nose can dramatically improve stability and control and gives the copter a tendancy to move forwards in the direction it is facing. Coupled with the precise up and down control, I'm confident that once the correct amount of bluetack has been isolated, I will be able to launch the copter from the coffee table, fly it up the stairs and land it on my bed.

When she gets out of the shower, I'm going to see if my partner has any cotton kicking about the place. I think the time has come to experiment with load-lifting.

I bought a miniature remote controlled car for myself and got bored of it pretty quick. But this looks like genuine wholesale fun; I wonder if I could somehow coordinate four or five of them and pick up the cat.

You see, these are the sort of questions that there should be proper funding available to investigate.

Man, I always wanted to buy one of those, but I questioned whether they really work. Because of you I have to buy one now, productivity--[sad]

I would just say they are very hard to control. They sort of fly where they want and the challenge is to stop them bumping into things at random rather than actually fly them where you want.

Still a lot of fun though.

Airwolf! [cool]

Looks pretty cool [smile]

It actually says the name of the theme at the end of the vid but I think everyone would know that song anyway :)
