Decision Time!

Ok, in connection with FUTURE PROJECT I've spent pretty much all afternoon drawing spaceships(I conquered France in the morning... funny story!) and I would like some feedback on the designs, so if you could look at the following super-montage(click for insanely big):

Please leave a comment telling me which one(s) you like the best, have the most potential, would hurt the most if one were thrown at you, etc. Thanks!

I'll probably post something similar in the Visual Arts forum tomorrow, after I've recovered from another Photoshop marathon, but for now I want to see what you guys think.

Don't forget to vote...

Thanks again -Goodnight!

1,2,3,7,8,9,10.

Number 3 must be named the 'Tetsuo'.

14 looks like a F-104 Starfighter. :P

Hey, they all look pretty awesome. I'd say that most of my favourites are near the top.

However, these look a lot more like airplanes than spaceships. I don't know if you care about that or anything, or if you just want them to look cool (which they do) [smile]. I don't think spaceships would have much use for wings.

Jesus christ. Another fine specimen of artwork from Mark's Workshop. Very very nice mate.

Breakdown of thoughts:

1) Looks somewhat reminiscent of the Centurion from the old Privateer game. Makes me think of a police fighter a bit. Looks like it has lots of missiles that will make you hurt.

2) Looks like a badass, very maneuverable fighter with not a whole lot of firepower.

3) Looks like a fighter-bomber with incredible armor.

4) Looks like a very maneuverable scout ship with a gun or two. Not horribly frightening.

5) Looks like a fighter-bomber with slightly less impressive armor than (3).

6) Looks like an interceptor. Very fast, pretty maneuverable, with only a spattering of weapons.

7) Looks like (6), but with more guns.

8) Looks like a pretty maneuverable and fast fighter with a decent amount of weaponry.

9) Looks like (8) but faster and with less guns.

10) Looks like (8) but with more armor.

11) Looks like a stealth bomber.

12) Looks like a second generation stealth bomber.

13) Pretty much the same as (9)

14) Pretty much like (8)

15) Cargo plane/Bomber. Not horribly imposing.

16) Bomber. Again, not the sort of thing you run in fear from.

17) Looks like an extremely fast scout/spy ship.

18) Same story as (17)

19) Fairly fast stealth bomber. Maybe a boss ship.

My favorite is (2), but that may be because it's the most polished in terms of drawing. (8) and (9) are probably tied for my next favorite.

Oh, I know. For these I actually decided to go through an old aircraft identification book(circa 1960) and draw a spaceship for each airplane I like. I'll have more spaceship looking spaceships to show you guys later.

First, your art is as usual awesome. I can never draw my designs that well... actually, my designs only look like anything after I've made 3D models of them (I am a programmer, after all). Anyway, from someone who has had years of experience designing random spacecraft for random purposes (looooooong story) I would suggest trying to move away from the "airplanes in space" paradigm (as I like to call it). Though your style looks quite cool, the physical implications of airplane shaped spacecraft are nightmarish (only, of course, if you care about the realism of the physics engine -- though that is only one style and no harm if yours is different).

Kudos on yet some more extremely high quality art. [grin]
