Fucking computers.

I hate computers. On tuesday night my system went tits up. My northbridge fan had died, and I have no idea how long it was dead (that's not what killed the motherboard, that was -my- fault). I damaged the motherboard removing the fan in an attempt to replace it with a heat sink (Note to ASUS: YOU FUCKING SUCK, HOW STUPID ARE YOU TO PUT A GODDAMN FAN ON THE NORTHBRIDGE!? IDIOTS!). So I ended up having to go and buy a new motherboard, and this time it has a heatsink on the northbridge. Goddamn computers. Then after getting the new motherboard the fucking power supply died. FUCK YOU ANTEC!! So my boss took pity on me and gave me a 535w enermax PSU (which I will be reimbursing him for, I just can't -not- pay for it, I'd feel too guilty, these things are stupidly expensive). So that was a nice piece of awesome.

I'm now in the re-installing stage. I had to use a license for Vista that I was trying to save for a new computer that I was planning on getting. Although I'm not entirely sure, if I don't activate it, I should be able to transfer it to the new machine right? I have 30 days, and in ~2 weeks I'll be doing all this again (albeit in a more controlled fashion), so hopefully I won't have to call some braindead drooling moron at Microsoft to re-activate and explain that the whole system of being able to transfer the OS is nothing short of consumer embezzlement. i.e. If I can't transfer the person on the other end of the phone is going to have a really bad day. Hopefully it won't come to that.

I also noticed some odd happenings in SlimDX, like not being able to switch to full screen mode and not recovering from an Alt+Tab while in fullscreen. Now I'm wondering if my hardware troubles weren't the cause of this behaviour? It was really odd stuff. When I get back up and running I'll try and look into it further.

AND, if anyone suggests that I should buy a mac, I'll fucking stab you in the face. Thanks.

that sucks man :/

I need to build a new machine, but I've been putting it off. I get reimbursed for computer upgrades, but I've been too lazy to do it and now I'm really wishing I'd just hurry up and do it.

Oh ya get a Mac..

then burn it in front of a fanboy and make them cry. I work with a guy who I swear would cry if he saw a Mac on fire.. hmm... *ideas*!

How about I just punch the macboy? That'd save me a lot of time.

But yeah, the worst part is that I get paid at the end of the month so I'll be able to buy me a proper machine then, but that didn't help me in the now. A core 2 duo is what I'm thinking, but this requires a new mobo + new memory as I only have DDR and not DDR2, plus I refuse to go lower than 3 GB, hence this will be an expense.

You download the mp3 I did a while back? It's on one of my journal entries down there somewhere...
