Motion blur and physics video

Short update tonight. I've created a new video showing off the ball physics and collisions, the planetary terrain ( and please.. I've repeated it many times, but since many people have already commented on it, again, it's using one big tiling texture and it has some vertex popping ), and finally the motion blur ( more visible if you pause the video at a moment the camera is moving quickly ).

You can get the video here:

Physics and motion blur ( Divx 5, 22 MB )

And here are two pictures of motion blur in the asteroid field:

INSTANT WIN!

Someone ought to clone you to create a snowboard/ski/motocross game as well as a new X-Wing vs T-Fighter.

You could probably go onto the Project Offset forums and ask them how they did it, if anything you could easily start a more private technical conversation. Might be a bit of give and take, but you might get some help with the occlusion problem. They seem like a good group of people from what I have read on their forums.

I'm not sure if I have commented on your journal before or not... but that looks absolutely awesome! Keep up the good work. :)

That is wild! The view from the side of the mountain is just incredible... almost as incredible as the view from the asteroid belt. I'm glad to see some physical interaction with the terrain. Does this mean there will be travelling on land via vehicle/walking/etc.? IIRC, you weren't originally planning on it.

This type of motion blur is something I use in my engine as well, and although the performance hit is high, and the effect subtle, it just adds such a nice touch. It looks great in your game -- really makes you feel like you're whizzing by those asteroids!

No walking, but land vehicles have always been planned. I'll probably do a short hovercraft experiment soon (tm) :)

Absolutely amazing :) It's even starting to look a bit like crysis with the motion blur. I'm going to have to watch it again.
