This fucking item system is going to be the death of me. I just can't seem to design it out right. I fix one problem, I get a little further in, and then I run into a new problem. I fix that, then I screw something else up and have to fix that.

Part of my problem is I'm trying to make it flexible. I know I said "I just want to finish this thing", but I don't want to spend a couple months coding this engine just to toss it away. I guess I could always just modify it later instead of trying to prepare it for the future. It just seems like a waste of time when I can spend a little extra time making it more flexible now, saving me from having to change it in the future.

I don't know. I'll think about it while I'm working on something else.

Make games, not Engines.

Make games, not Engines. Someone needs to put that on a shirt.

Yah, I concur. I imagine it feels like it'll be cool to have something you can use for other projects, but things like this often end up becoming projects themselves and doom the original project in the process.

Just make it so it works for your game. If you want to do something similar for another one, you can always pull it back out and modify it for your next projects' requirements.

That's my $0.02 anyway.

Yea, I know. This is where I'm running into problems...I don't know what I'm going to need for my game. I guess I need to go back and finish designing out my items and such before going on. That would probably help.
