So we got a bunch of feedback on pre-submission from Nintendo recently. Which includes some great bugs such as: "If the player has a DS with a worn out D-pad, and they press up and down at once, the cars drive left and right."
Err, no they don't. Your "Word out D-pad" is just fucked, so you're pressing left and right as well as up and down. I mean really, what do you expect? I'm fully expecting a bug to come back "If you play the game underwater, the game crashes" or some other bullshit.

Then we had the usual nit-pick bugs like "Multi Card Play" has to be hyphenated as "Multi-Card Play", and from the last game; "NINTENDO WI-FI CONNECTION" has to read "NINTENDO Wi-Fi CONNECTION", despite the fact that that's the only place in the entire game that a lower case letter is used.

*sigh* fucking lot check.

The bugs that come back can be absoultely insane. Here a classic example from the last Xbox 360 title I worked on:

"If player leaves the room with the wireless controller game is no longer controllable"

I think are response just said "Correct - as designed" as they usually don't come back on those as it suggests we meant that to happen rather than calling them idiots for stating the obvious.

Heh, we've had problems on previous titles with wireless communications on the DS too, which turn out to be the SDK giving bad information; e.g. reporting the wrong signal strength, or just locking up unexpectedly...

Damn. We're soon to start lot check for our new Wii title (the first title I've worked on) and I'm a little scared that everything is just going to be stuffed. :D

Well, it's not too bad. I can understand a lot of the stuff; intellectual property and all that, but some of it just makes you want to facepalm. I guess most of these places just employ people to follow a checklist, and see what happens, but even so... I've heard particularly bad things about Sony's lot check; whereby a title might have passed Sony lotcheck, but that doesn't mean it's been lock check approved...

Damnit. This is one of the many reasons I prefer to use a PC.
