Punch:

Kick:

Jump:

All I have to add is grabbing and throwing, and I'll be done with the basic commands. Then, I can remake the player sprite into an enemy sprite, give it some AI, and fight it.

Of course, there is also the matter of drawing the scene in order, so the sprites overlap each other correctly. That shouldn't be too difficult to do, simply throw them into a collection and do a sort on them.

I've been wanting to work on this game alot more, and since my summer vacation starts on friday, I'll finally be able to. Then again, Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out next week, so it might be a little difficult to stay focused[grin]

Sprite Guy - "I know Kung Fu!"

He's got an impressive jump. Are you going to give him a jump kick too?

And you've got to have weapons - that's part of the whole fun of the beat-em-up genre. And a big flashing sign that says "Go!" when you beat a wave of enemies, but that's just my personal taste [wink]

Keep up the good work!

Looks cool! Reminds me of Little Fighter 2. That game was a bit hectic.

Looks good. I'm happy to see this progressing. I have to admit that I'm a little sad to see the lucha libre go but maybe he's an unlockable character? ;)

I have to comment on the kick sprite though. All your frames seem to be completely outlined by a black border except for the leg in the kick frame. It makes it look a little inconsistent IMHO.

Good job, can't wait to play it!

rip-off
I'm liking the sprite - as always.

You are the king of sprite games.

I didn't take a screenshot of it, but he can already jump kick. It's just the regular kick sprite in mid-air, though.

I'm planning on having lots and lots of weapons that the player can use, ranging from katanas to golf clubs. One of the ideas I had was that the player could go into a sporting goods store and buy various things that could be used as weapons, like baseball bats, golf clubs, stuff like that.

Thanks!

Another thing I want to do, as one of numerous nods to River City Ransom, is have comic book word bubbles appear above the enemies' heads when the player beats them up, saying things like "Avenge me!".

I liked Little Fighter 2 quite a bit, although I found it extremely difficult. I would get beat down even on the first level of the game.

I'll probably bring that character back as a boss. One of the things I'm planning in the game is to allow the player to participate in spectator fights against tough bosses in order to gain cash. The lucha libre character could be the most difficult of these boss fights.

Now that I'm looking at the kick sprite, it does look a little strange. I'll add in the outline on the leg too.

That little sprite guy will probably be recolored to make different characters many times over the course of the game.
