Why do game companies constantly take a good thing and shit on it? For instance, Fallout 1 and 2 were really good games. Fallout 3? Utter shit. I was planning on writing a review for it, but I couldn't bring myself to even finish the game. IMHO it's Oblivion with guns and a different storyline/setting.

Another example: Pokemon Ranger and Coliseum games (note that I haven't played any of the newer Coliseum games, just the first two.) They're nothing like the regular Pokemon games and they suck ass for that exact reason. Don't get me wrong though, they really don't need to make anymore Pokemon games period. Every single one is just a remake of the one before it with extra monsters and different names for people and places.

I guess I'm just pissed because I'm bored, don't want to do anymore programming today, and I have no games to play except shitty ones or ones that I've finished a million times (and 90% of them are shitty as well.)

You are a hard shell to crack, dude! You obliterated Fable 2, and now your fiddling with burning Fallout 3 at the stakes, which, IMO is a really cool game.

Hell, if Yahtzee can say, "Yeah, it's pretty good," you know you've got to be in daisy land smoking the ... >;)

IIR, Oblivion was an awesome game. What's wrong with taking awesome aspects (huge dynamic world) from a game, wrapping something completely different around it, and releasing it?

I guess I should elaborate more on my problem with Fallout 3. It's not so much that it was a bad game, as it was pretty good "in it's own right." It was pretty decent on the immersion side, and (besides the fact that IMO fantasy setting > post apocalyptic setting) it was a vast improvement over Oblivion.

However, it's nothing compared to the first two games in the series. Plus, they took a 2D RPG and turned it into a 3D FPS with a few RPG elements. Oh, and the first two games were hard; this game was fucking EASY (I know, I didn't finish it, but I played about 75% before returning it to BlockBuster.)

So, in the end it's a pretty decent game by itself, but the worst in the series.

Another issue I have with games like these (Fallout 3 and Oblivion) is that they don't really belong on the console because with a vast open world where you could easily die anywhere, you need a quick save button. There were a few times when I was wandering, found myself 100 miles from anywhere and without ammunition when I'd suddenly run into super mutants or deathclaws. It makes me so happy when I have to replay 30 minutes because I didn't have a quicksave button (and opening the menu to save manually takes too long.)

[edit2]
Also, Yahtzee is my idle (well, at least until the time when I make a game that he reviews lol.)
