Blur shader

Wrote a blur shader for use in glow effects so thought I might as well use it to blur the game when it is paused. The effect blurs in and out by setting a shader variable between 0 and 1 so you get a nice, smooth transition as the menu appears and disappears.

">Tonight's YouTube video demonstrates the blur effect as well as Squishy's floating behaviour when under water and the changing of the water level in response to game script triggered by pressing buttons.

Squishy is not a good swimmer - you can't move up and down without using your arms to pull yourself about in the water. Works quite nicely really.

I'm not sure if any other post processing will be needed for this project, but I do plan to experiment extensively with pixel shaders for rendering effects within the game.

Stop making me feel bad for not getting anything done on my game recently :D

Looks great as usual. The movement through the water is cool!

I have fits and starts as well. This week has been pretty intense but I went for weeks accomplishing almost nothing.

Now I've got a blur shader working, I'm thinking about having a go at that lightning effect you blogged about recently.

rip-off
Nice, and you really got it working quite quickly.

Will do soon. I'll put a bigger level together that shows off all of the currently implemented features then let you lot find the bugs. [smile]

Looks good. It seems that when if falls into the water it moves a bit too fast - water should slow down movement, to feel more natural.

Yes, I agree. I need to tweak it. It should be pretty trivial to do as Squishy's linear velocity is already capped, so I'll just lower the cap when he is underwater.

Thanks for the input. [smile]
