New job

Got my official confirmation offer for my new job today so handed in my notice at my current place. Awesome.

I'm going to be an employment consultant for a business that is funded by the government and European Social Fund to assist unemployed people back into work by providing advice, training and assistance with applications.

I think it will be really rewarding.

Plus it is a grand a year more than my current salary, closer to home and they seem cool about cigarette breaks. [smile]

-----------------------------

Need to rewrite part of my audio system to change the way I calculate volume over distance. I've been studying the way DirectSound handles 3D and have some ideas but don't want to use DirectSound's 3D system as it complicates things for no real gain - without virtualization, which is not available for DS under Vista, it is all done with panning and volume anyway, which I can do myself and still duplicate buffers, modify volume and pan manually etc etc.

But, as you might imagine, I am celebrating tonight so after a few beers I'm not convinced it would be a good idea to go anywhere near the Squishy codebase. If I had some kind of version control then maybe I'd risk it but as-is there is a good chance I'd wake up tomorrow to find that Squishy had become a Pong-clone or something.

Congrats on the job. A change is as good as a break so hopefully it will be rewarding and leave you with even more energy to carry of with your game.
