A very positive review from IGN.

I've been getting some complaints about the controls. The controls in Bennu are definitely not intuitive, because they simulate a ball and chain, and so you have to gain impulse to swing around. Most people expect to be able to just point the ball to wherever they want within the limits of the chain and so get frustrated quickly. I'm doing an update with an alternative control system to update this, but it will be a little too late.

Like IGN says in the review, the more you play the more you like it, but I don't think anyone will like Bennu after playing only 2 minutes.

Hmm. I've got very similar concerns about my current project, which also involves swinging around.

People seem to really struggle with it unless they put some real effort into learning the controls, which means the majority of casual players will lose interest very quickly.

Hell, what can you do? This is the problem with innovating - you lose the crowd but those who do get into it get an original experience. I wouldn't water Bennu down too much unless your motivation is sales (in which case such an innovative control system was possibly the wrong project in the first place).

The problem is, like most people around here, I'd like games programming to be my full time job instead of my hobby. :) And so far Bennu has sold enough to last me about a week if I didn't have a day job. :D

But you're right, I shouldn't sell out the game concept just to get a few more players. I like the game as it is. Screw this. I've already started my next game.

(Squishy is looking sexy btw).
