However, I also found out that my previous employer gave me a bad reference.
The reference showed by attendance and punctuality as poor (complete rubbish, I do not believe I was late once in the two years I worked there) and every other aspect of my work as "fair". Would you re-employ him - "No".
Every single one-to-one and assessment that I completed while there was glowing, ticked off as good or very good on pretty much every aspect of my work and I never received a single criticism or negative comment in two years. That's on fucking paper.
Thankfully, my new employer decided to approach my other reference who gave me a glowing report and they decided to let me start and discuss it with me and I was able to convince them this was personal rather than professional.
So it has worked out okay. This is good news for me but even better news for the person concerned as they are now not going to get sued.
But I'm so angry, I can barely see at the moment. I guess that will pass with time. I don't really feel it is worth pursuing this any further as my new employer is happy to proceed so I can only really think that I've had the last laugh.
I've made sure though that everyone in the previous company finds out about this though.
Regular readers may remember the conversation about cleaning toilets from a couple of weeks ago. That was the guy. What a prick.
