Just a quick post to say I've uploaded a YouTube video of Squishy showcasing the positional sound system and music, as well as the Sound menu.

">VIDEO HERE.

Some of the sound effects are just placeholders but you get the general idea. Comments as always welcome.

Looks and sounds great ;) Just wondering, have you recorded these sounds with headphones' microphone like you mentioned few weeks earlier? Because the sounds seem to be pretty good quality.

No, I bought a slightly better mic, although it's dynamic and pretty rubbish really. I struggle like hell to get a decent guitar sound with it but it will have to do until I can afford to invest about £30-£40 in a condenser mic.

Quite a few of the sound effects I got from freesound.org although the popping sound is me with my little finger in my cheek [smile].

Thanks for the comments.

I like it. Sounds always adds so much to a game, you can never quite realise how empty it feels without it.

Agreed. As I said the other week, I think it was well worth the time involved in making the sound system more sophisticated for this project. The stereo and volume for positioning sounds works pretty well (if I say so myself [smile]).

Looking (and sounding) good! [smile]

One piece of nag though. If it was up to me I'd speed up the menu transition effects (the visual, not the sound). A rule of thumb is that a transition should never be longer than half a second, and if it's possible even half of that.

Don't you agree, an interface that is too slow is much worse than an interface that is too fast? Actually I can't even picture an interface that is "too fast".

Fair point. I've sped up the menus movement and the fade in-out of the text and it all feels a lot more sprightly now.

Thanks for the input.
