I think it looks a lot cleaner too :-)
A short post... I've recently thought about how I want the walls to look in the game and I have come to the decision that I want them to be black on the topside. Up until now the walls have had their topside the same color as their sides. I think by coloring the topside black it will add to the feeling that there actually is a roof that can't be seen. Here's a picture showing how it could look like.

I like that it really enforces the impression that there's a ceiling but I don't think it looks that good, I can't quite put my finger on it but I find the contrast is a bit too harsh. I don't know if there's a middle ground (like using the same color as your wall but make it much darker and don't let lighting sources affect its brightness)... Just my 2c :)
Good work though, I can't wait to see this in action.

Personally I like it, coloring the top part has a tendency of making it look like a little playhouse, like you're peeking up the top, while black is pretty discreet and can be interpreted as a shadow.
The screenshot looks so cool! You really have to inject some simple gameplay there and release a very very early alpha :)

Thanks for the comments!
Aardvajk, glad you found it informative. I have been thinking about writing a small article on the subject, just.. when will I find the time?! =)
Gazillion, Yes it does have a bit of a contrast now that you mention it, I see it too. There will be a darker color at the tops just remains to see how it will look with the final graphics. This can be adjusted as time go by.
Jotaf, thanks for the support. I am aiming to have an episode system in the game. The first episode will be free to download and try.

Nice work on the navigation mesh stuff below BTW. Haven't caught up on this journal for a while. I'm toying with the idea of a Neverwinter style RPG (in terms of graphical view) as a future project and your posts on navigation meshes were very informative.
