Crunch Time, Trainspotting Style

Ok, so my initial plan of starting this stretch of crunch time on Wednesday was interrupted by some real world events that required some priority shifts the last couple of days. Nothing serious really, just a sequence of real world events that demanded attention. At any rate, I've spent the better part of today preparing for the crunch which will take place over the next 48 hours.

I've done my best to limit distractions in that period of time. I've cleaned my apartment and work area, stocked up on food and beverages. Set a specific list of tasks that I wish to complete, and have a set of rules that I must follow in the next 48 hours. General Tasks to Complete:

Rules for this Weekend:

1. I am only allowed to check facebook/twitter/e-mail/message boards and update this log 2 times a day. Once in the morning and once at night.

2. I am allowed to take breaks for up to half an hour. I must however work in three hour intervals, this excludes time for exercise which is an hour each day.

3. I am allowed to leave my apartment under certain circumstances: 1. To go for a walk, 2. For family emergencies(trump card which blows the whole crunch out of the water)3. Saturday night to go to a pre-planned function from 6pm to 10pm.

4. I'm only allowed to communicate with other people in regards to game development, and only during break times.(This of course is again canceled for emergency situations.)

Nice Clean work area.

I'm going to go for a walk before I begin and eat as well. If all goes well, I'm hoping to get at least 24 hours of actual work in over the course of the next 2 Days. Crunch begins at 5pm CST Friday and Ends 5pm CST Sunday.

Also, The nineteenth Lundum Dare Competition will be going on this weekend as well. If I wasn't starting work on Monday, I wanted to participate in this compo, but in order for me to reach my goal of having my tools ready to start development on a game by the first of January, I've had to shift priorities. Good luck to everyone participating, I'll be checking in at least once a day and seeing how progress is going.

More Later.
