Featured GDnet+ logo+%20bullet.png Journal Entry

Codex of the Modemancer - modemancer shares some of his game development experience as he speaks briefly on why game design documents are valuable even for small projects where you might consider them to be overkill

Featured Member Journal Entry

Silviu Andrei's Journal - Silviu Andrei wastes a paragraph explaining why he hasn't posted in so long when he should have just put his video up at the top and we all would have understood immediately and then totally forgiven him. Now - more juicy info on this amazing looking water rendering please and thank you! Wow, we had quite the retweet storm on twitter too when @bertieb started spreading the word

Welcome new Journal Land authors DrMadolite, Tipsy, NickUdell and RPGJohnny!

From the Staff

  • Staff Journal - You may have noticed some changes happening with the reputation system. We're beginning to roll out a whole new way of dealing with reputation here on the forums so check out Mike Tanczos' post to get an idea of where things are headed

    Project Updates

    • Pixel ? Tile ? World logo+%20bullet.png - Servant of the Lord has some new editor screenshots, interface sketches and more plot previews with an spoiler-light excerpt from the current version of the script. Nice custom spoiler tag! How'd he do that?

    • omnomnom's RPG journal - omnomnom has no pictures or videos to entertain you with but does take some time to lay out his thoughts and implementations (no code) on his new infinite tile world support, optimizing his tile textures, and why he's decided to toss field of vision
    • Little Coding Fox's Journal Of Exotic Adventures - Little Coding Fox has a video showing off his work from the past year and a half that's been going into creating a prototype game that lets you "create your own magical spells combining spell fragments, or essences, in order to battle your opponents"
    • Archer Alec Devlog - HabitueGames has a new screenshot and video of his project Archer Alec, a large-pixel side scrolling plaformer, showing off the newly completed Swamp level
    • /* Why you crying? */ - JTippetts compares some old and new code as he reworks the actions and skills system in Goblinson Crusoe, among various other things he's managed to somehow accomplish this past week with a newborn. What's his secret?

    • The Bag of Holding - ApochPiQ has some more updates on his Epoch coding language, including sum type implementation and thoughts/ramblings on the type system
