So I've spent all the time making 10 Fantasy Fights (http://prankster.com/10ff). People should be lining up to play it, right? Haha.

For the past few days, I've been posting to various announcement forums, emailing news editor etc, on a variety of Indie and RPG game sites. Such as:

  • Here.
  • RPGCodex.
  • RampantGames.
  • TIGSource.
  • IndieDB.
  • IndieRPGs.
  • RPGWatch.
  • IndieGames.
  • IndieGamer.

(If you have any more ideas where I should announce 10FF, please feel free to drop a comment or email!)

Well, a few people have downloaded 10FF now, but so far the only feedback I've gotten is a sarcastic thread about my use of "real-time" and "realism" in the announcement I wrote. I must remind myself that this stuff takes time.

You should try and contact the folks at Spiderweb Games. They do the old school RPGs and manage to get a bit following to their games. They might be able to give you some pointers on different communities and press that you can contact.

Didn't play your game, but here are my two cents.

Though it looks interesting, it lacks a lot of polishing. The 3d world is consistent enough, but the UI is really lacking. You should invest some time in polishing the UI first, get a tablet and learn painting (yes, you can, I learned it too). The inventory screen is really a show-stop, a stick-figure in a RPG is not on par with the rest of the game. Take a render from one of your chars and outline it, even this would be better.

An other point is, that you should be careful about your announcements. Announcing is important, but doing it too often or piling on to it (real-time/realism etc.) can be really annoying.

And eventually your game name is missleading IMHO. When I read your game title first, I thought of a flash, fantasy arena fighting game, not a CRPG ! You should always submit screenshots of your game whenever you announce something. A picture says more than 1000 words.

And it will take time to get some awareness and I'm speaking of years ! Even minecraft was many years in development until it got famous over night !

Reddit.com is a great place to get feedback and help announce a game. However, I warn you that they may give you feedback that you do not want to hear.

Good point. I'm under some constraints here that make an ideal solution difficult, but I'll think about what could be done.

Very good... I hadn't even thought of that. "10 Fantasy Fights" is, on one hand, very descriptive of what the game is, but on the other hand, doesn't really have the right feel.

In any case, thanks for posting.

I rarely visit reddit, but from what I've seen, my guess is I'd get a lot of snark and such, but probably wouldn't reach much of my audience (old school RPG players). Is that fair?

"Snarky" comments or not there are tons of people on Reddit. It is free and you would be surprised the people that are on the site.
I would say if you wanted to test the waters, go to the /r/truegaming and post a thread about old style RPG and see the response you get.
As for more ideas:

Good luck!
