"The Gragons Farm" is a monster capturing/raising focused on adventure, with features such as farming, crafting, building, customization and more on PC!
It features hundreds of hours of gameplay with the liberty for creativity of building a Farm full of plants, fruits and vegetables to grow and pick up, and also ir gives the opportunity to grow a farm full of strange creatures and pet them.
To ensure the best possible flexibility and performance, we use Unity3D as our game engine.
The Gragons Farm is planned for release on Steam(Windows).
If we reach our goals, we will release on other platforms, for example Mac and Linux.
The game without the goals features already:

  • 100 different locations to explore.
  • Fighting, Capturing and Raising 100 different Gragons.
  • Crafting more than 500 different Items to help on the world.
  • Building and Customization of your House and Farm with your crafted Items.
  • Planting trees, fruits and vegetables to feed you and your Gragons.
  • Fighting 100 Giant Gragons and finding all 100 Grodges.

Help us reach all the Goals to increase this list and make the game you like and want.
The Gragons Farm is heavily inspired by awesome games such as Rune Factory, Pokemon and Fantasy Life. We love monster raising and farming!

You are Josh and woke up on World Gragonia without memories, you start a new life and find ways to recover your lost memories, and why are doing in this world.
However, you must first learn how to live on Gragonia by farming, adventuring strange portals and explore new locations, expanding and building your own House and Farm and raising your very own magical creatures known as Gragons. 
Venture around the land of Gragonia, explore and reclaim your lost memories and go home, but this is no easy task as the world is filled with dangerous Gragons, secrets and threatening challenges.

Every location is full of different Gragons, atmosphere, objects, and more.
New locations are locked and can't proceed without Killing the Giant Gragon and get it's Grodge.

Gragons are the living beings of this world.
Every Gragon has different skills, power and personality.
Some will run from you, others will attack when they see you.
Some Gragons burn things, others, can frozen things, others fly, while others, poop everywhere.
They like to live in a good place, full of food and happiness.
There are 100 Gragons in this world for now.

In this world, you can build and craft more than 500 different Items to customize your own House(Interior and Exterior) and a Big Farm for you to build whatever you want.
Every crafting table has different Items to craft, so you will need to craft new crafting tables to build new Items.
You can build everywhere and how you want, you have the liberty to create and put objects together to build new things.
Things that only your creativity can do.

With the most of the development of the game, funded by our own savings, Indiegogo is a way to give the push it needs to finish development. This is our first official commercial project, and we want to create a high-quality professional game.

We want to increase the flexibility of the project in terms of resources, and, in case the goals are reached, we have a final secret Reward for you for completing all the goals, to further increase the quality of the game and bring new and exciting features to it.

The Gragons Farm's concept was conceived around May 2016 and we were actually half way through the development. Back then the project had another name and we had poured so much time and effort into it that some of us had our health crippled.

But in the end, we needed to change it due to our financial difficulties and 6 months of development was almost destroyed.

That was the darkest time of our life and all of us were giving up on this project...

Shortly after the change of ideas of the previous project and support from family and friends, we put a lot of thought into it and we decided that we had ventured too far to give up on the game.

We wanted to achieve the good result from what we have and what we can do. And what you guys can do to help us reach this especial goal of releasing this project.

Expectations are really high from you guys and we figured that it would be impossible for our very tiny team to fulfill them. This is why we're starting this campaign: To realize the full potential of the game!

We are a small team of developers, and we want to deliver games with good quality. We are dedicated to creating high quality games and we pour all of our hearts and souls into them.

With this project of ours, the greatest challenge for us, will be to fulfill the expectations of our fans and supporters.

The Gragons Farm is currently being developed by a small team of 2 up to date since June 2016. We're all passionate gamers from different background and all of us grew up playing all types of games. The Gragons Farm is what we have been craving for since Harvest Moon and Pokemon eras so we band together to make it a reality with your support.

Risks and challenges

Game development is always full of unknowns and unexpected events are occurring on a daily basis.

Lucky for us, we're very used to solving challenges that may come our way effectively.

Our team has been solving challenges since Day 1 of the development, be it technical or real world issue.

We have been through many hardship and we are not giving up no matter what is thrown at us.

But of course nothing is set in stone until it happens so there are still things that we might not be able to solve or prevent such as natural disaster, health problem, robberies, cyber attacks and what not.

Nonetheless, we will do our best to minimal the risk as we continue the development.

Good luck with your project. One question, why does Linux/Mac versions come so late in the goal board? I can understand that consoles are secondary because they require extra work to adapt the game, but a Linux/Mac version stays the exact same, specially when you use an engine which gives you multi OS compatibility for free.

It's because of the testing, and change of some properties to fully function on Mac and Linux.

      The idea is a person on the brink of death "running" through his memories. The background is his memories.

      Obligatory disclaimer - Yes this is for academic purposes, not for making actual games.
      I've been employed as a Software Engineer for 2 years but still feel like a beginner when it comes to writing a game engine (and much of coding in general). What little experience I have with writing 3D software from scratch is from super rough university projects (which we called "engine" but that's definitely debatable). Meanwhile, my current job doesn't really take me down this line of learning.
       
      This thread is to ask for advice; mainly pointers to good guides, or comments on what structural approaches are considered to be good ones. I'm looking for something that teaches me about how to structure a game engine so that:
      it's good for learning about writing an engine it's not completely devoid of modern techniques it will be usable for later feature learning; networking, AI, unit testing, etc. (I imagine this criterion is typically a given anyway.)  
      Some things I'm aware of so far (you may want to comment on any of these):

From what little I've read of it, it appears more advice than structural guide. ECS was a buzzword back when I was at uni, but the more I google it the more it appears to have become a dirty word. Unreal Engine's source  
      Regarding ECS: For all the flak it appears to generate nowadays, it is at least a structure. If ECS isn't recommended I'm interested in what other general structural approaches there are.
      Regarding Unreal: I'd love to jump in and learn how Unreal Engine's structure works, but it might be biting off more than I can chew. 
      Language of choice is C++.

      Hi guy , i wanna really quickly introduce myself , So i'm a 18 year old Highschool student that have been for a while really pationate about video game (i have been doing Esport , Streaming all that really fun stuff) but lately i had to made a choice about what i wanna do in life and i'm pretty sure its going to be in the video game industry. Last year i started learning to use UE4 , pretty much only for fun trying to recreate cool stuff i was seing in the game i was playing at that time. But now , i wanted to trie creating something of my own so i wanna show you what a got in the head. Also , I'm french so sorry if my spelling is quite right.. 
       
      So in Short , i was playing lately alot of FPS (Quake champion , Law Breaker and bunch of other cool game). I was talkinh with my friend and its pretty much their that a got the global idea of what this game is going to be. I wanted to take little simple game mecanics from every game and put them i one unique game. For exemple , Player could Strafe Jump like in quake , while other Start randomly Wall running like in Titanfall 2. After i came up with what would be the game objective , because player won't start playing a game for no reason . I didn't played CTF game for a long time so , i decided why not make this a CTF game , But ctf is kinda mainstream and really linear in term of game play, 
      This is when my friend had this idea of <<Why not let the player decide if the want to play it ''Run it down to the flag'' or ''let's just #*@! the other team'' (sorry for the bad words) >>. at this time i had a clear idea of what would exactly be the Core ''gameplay'' (if we can call this gameplay).  To win you have two option :
      1- Capture the flag and bring it back to your's. If you managed to do so , the game instantly stop and you win. 
      2- Kill all the enemy team.
      Now you most be thinking , <<Well how? they will just respawn right?>> well no , because i came up with the idea of limiting the number of time player can respawn using some kind of respawn point system. 
       
      i'll came up with more details later (i have to go to my next class) , but let me know what you think about my idea? what should i add or ajust?
