Project: Ripped The Life

Reap | Devlog #4

Hey everyone!

Ludum Dare 44 is over and my game ("Reap", originally "Ripped The Life") has won 135th place in the competition. I'm very happy with that result! :D5g7r1n.jpg

As I've planed, I've taken some time to polish up the game a little bit.

I made a simple fix to spell shooting mechanic. Basically, gravity does not affect the spells in any way anymore which means that their movement is much more predictable.
Hopefully this will make the game less frustrating for the player.

Also, given that the Grim Reaper looked a bit weired when walking and seemed floaty when jumping I decided that it's time to change his animations.
Here's the new running animation I've made for him:
If you're interested in making similar pixel art animations you can check out this tool on Itch: https://0x72.itch.io/pixeldudesmaker

One thing I've noticed with these new animations is that the Grim Reaper is now looking like his wearing pajamas XD

Thanks for reading this devlog! If you have any feedback or suggestions, make sure to comment down bellow and let me know! :)

He does look a bit like he's in pyjamas - I think it's the legs - the grim reaper tends to be depicted with a floor length robe that covers the feet.  That does tend to also result in more of a floating look though...  Maybe you could try making the feet skeletal or something if you wanted to avoid the pajama look?

Lelantos is the most humid and gas rich planet with a colour palette of yellow and brown tones. Since ancient life forms de-evolved so long ago, there are no old artefacts or ruins left but the ground walls are covered in plants and moss.
Looking for people to help with a game. I need artists, video game designers, 3d modelers, marketers and just as much people I can get pretty much. We can discuss more through email or here. I can help with art because I draw as a hobby.

      About the Project
Muscle Wizard is an Action Platformer, presented as 2D Pixel Art and built in Unity3D.
The game features the magic user types from classic medieval fantasy games and, as a comedic hyperbole, makes them all ridiculously buff,alpha-male characters that use a combination of American Style Wrestling moves (i.e: WWE, WWF) and magic to create over-the-top attacks.

There are 7 Classes planned, in which the game starts out with only 1 unlocked. The Muscle Wizard. As the Wizard, you adventure through open-ended platformer levels, doing quests, playing through the story and unlocking new abilities on your ability tree. As the story progresses, you'll unlock new Classes, which offer a new character, and new skill trees that hold new abilities.
The narrative is that the Wizard was once apart of a classic RPG adventuring party but was mocked due to being a "Glass Cannon", in order to prove his worth, they believe to be a fairly simple quest to do alone, only for it to be much more complex than originally thought. A whole adventure involving monarchical treason, ancient cults and a coming apocalypse unfolds.
The game will also potentially feature drop-in/drop-out local multiplayer for up to a total of 4 players and be designed solely for console deployment.
A possible addition, also, is a Battle-Mode, a local 4 player arena battle game in which players choose their characters (unlocked through playing the campaign) and arena (arenas based on the levels in the campaign) and then proceed to fight each other in an attempt to knock their opponents out.
As of now, all 7 characters have had mock concept art created and the Muscle Wizard has a few animations already completed. Still to come in the next few weeks is tilesets, female versions of the 7 characters and more animations!

This is the very first demo playthrough video of Star Blitz X that we made. We are looking for feed back or suggestions to help improve our game.
To give a short description of the game. It is a 3d fps that is a homage of the 1980's arcade shoot'em up. You act on defense of protecting the earth from asteroids and missiles for one minute.
Now for the feedback or suggestion, the game takes place in the first level and we ask for improvement like adding more enemies, position of asteroids or etc. for challenge. Keep the suggestion simple because the game more of an arcade genre, and we cannot wait for your respond. Thank You.
