DOOM: The GameDev Challenge Recap

The DOOM challenge is one of my favorites so far. Probably because the entries remind me of a time when I started to become more fascinated with graphics and game development. Doom was an inspiration for me, and I'm sure many others.

Congratulations to all who managed to complete the challenge! It's always cool to see members in the community complete projects like this, and some of these entries turned out more "complete" than we might have expected for 2 months of development. Here's the list of completed projects, in no particular order:

Owl Shooter (Manager Killer)

Doomish is really nice to look at with the pixel art (I didn't want to call it cute but it kinda looks like a kid friendly version of Doom).

This is pretty cool stuff here.

I also really like the Doomish style and gameplay. Given a little more time for polish I could see it being a popular store download. It might even play well on other platforms like mobile or Switch. Only problem might be the Doom copyright for a commercial product - probably would need to come up with a new IP. But the style is very market friendly.

@M0N0_M4NDoomish is mostly kid friendly, could be more so if I cleaned out the little bit of blood in it. I'm fine with calling it cute, I think it is.

And @khawk I would definitely come up with an IP and a small story if I decide to put it out somewhere. It does need a lot of polish, especially some of the SFX and level design.

That Warlock game looks awesome, I'll have to check that game out.

The other games here were fun to play, and very varied in style. All good stuff. These challenges help me push my skills a little farther and to develop some of the skills that don't normally get as much work but are necessary for developing complete games.
