Sadly, I removed the theme music from my journal. It was distracting people from commenting == bad!

Well, I really have to find a balance between Maplestory and C++. I've *kinda* gotten through the first 2 chapters of Accelerated C++ . Kinda meaning I read it, typed everything, and did all the questions at the end, but I still don't feel I grasp it well enough ! :P

So, I've assigned myself a little out-of-class work: since I know how to use iostream, I'm going to put together a little text-based game, Medival Lordship. Remember Medival Farmer III? Well, like that but with less... farming.

Should be interesting as a little sidequest.

Maplestory:

Oh, and if you play Maplestory, post/PM me your nick so I can add you to my friend list. Or just add me: "Mushu7"; because questing alone gets you less EXP is so ronery!! I generally play every day, but next Monday~Tuesday is going to be some hard-core levelling up! [grin]

Am now LVL 13 Swordsman.

@hothead: A more effective way of doing that is, "...and I'll give you a rating++ instead of a rating--"

@Mushu: downloading maplestory... can't say how much I'll play it though. PS, is it just me or does their site seem kind of slow?

So I'm level 19 mage now, so hear a word of advice from me: C++ is a rather archaic language. Comparing the features to any modern languages you'll see that in C++ you'll have to do a lot og ugly hacks and such to achieve what you need to do with the new more sophisticated technologies.

Ahh, blissful silence. My ears thank you.

I'm a 37th level Uberknight Untermage with a +8 Sword of Destiny and a +2 Vorporal Lemur Of Profound Itchiness.

My character's currently for sale on ebay.

Okay, not really.

That was one of my biggest gripes about that book actually now that you mention it...

For me the lack of a solid understanding only got worse as the book proceeds into the later chapters. I really dont feel that the book was able to effectively communicate some of the concepts, whether that was by not going into anough detail with the explanations or whether that was due to a lack of suporting example code Im not sure. Maybe you'll have a different opinion on the overall than me though. Good luck with it.

Well, I just read the stuff over a couple of times, let it all sink in, and that works pretty well. Because reading it once really doesn't do much - I don't even pick up on half the things the first time.

But yeah, it's a great book so far!

I somewhat wish at the time that I had spent a little more time re-re-reading it to help with the soak in of info, but at the time i decided to give more time to other classes that were somewhat more demanding. Maybe I'll take it back up again as a winter break project of sorts.
