Just when I think that i'm on to something good, price comes into play [sad]. I have heard great things about Qt, both in journals here and Dr. Dobb's Journal.

Today I decided that i'd give the evaluation version a go so I downloaded and installed it, and so far I must say I like what I see. I'm going to mess around with it and try to get a simple application going, but my high hopes came crashing back to earth when I was poking around Trolltech's site and came upon the pricing...

$1550 for a single license! Man, I can't swing that. I have been tasked with writing a fairly simple database system at work, to keep track of tombstones, materials, who's paid, etc., and my first thought was Visual Basic. The only problem is, I can't stand Visual Basic [sad]. If possible, i'd like to use C++, and that's why Qt seems so appealing.

You know, I hadn't thought about it before, but maybe there's an opportunity through my school to be able to use Qt? I'll have to ask one of my professors. If I could do that, that would be awesome. I'll have to see what I can get done in this 31 day evaluation.
