that's where my solution for the rendertarget problem was... and I realized it this night when I wrote my blog.

In fact, the solution was to only backup the default render target and not all render targets. So the basic algo looks like this :

if new rendertarget != NULL
then - if default rendertarget backup == NULL
then backup default rendertarget

- Set new rendertarget

else - if default rendertarget backup != NULL
then - Set default rendertarget
- default rendertarget backup = NULL


This enables me to change the rendertarget as often as I want without losing the default rendertarget which is created my the device.
