Miller Freeman pays me money!!
Just a quick note that I've officially crossed the line in the sand. That What Language Should I Use article that I wrote a couple months ago for gamedev.net (a small-time site run by a couple of development monkeys) was bought by Miller Freeman (a bigass company that runs gamedev.net's inferior clone, Gamasutra).
You can now read it here if you didn't catch it the first time around.
Thanks to an astute reader, I am now on my way to getting DirectX running again under NT!
If you'll remember a couple of days ago, I reported my DirectX-under-NT woes. Well, a helpful reader has pointed out that there is an unofficial DirectX 5 for NT available. I don't think Microsoft's too keen on this product escaping, so I'll just say that a search for nt4dx5.zip and a little legwork in a search engine will find the file for you. There were a few red herrings and dead sites out there, but the file is most assuredly available.
Interestingly, one discussion group mentioned that they were able to get DirectX 6.1 running under NT. I'll just be happy for now with version 5.
