General cheapness

A quick annotation to the Paint Shop Pro update mention I made in the news page. If you buy any version of PSP before the end of September, you can upgrade to version 6.0 for free (OK, eight bucks with shipping). At Electronic Discount Sales, a D/FW discount computer chain, they've got copies of PSP 5 for only $25, which is even cheaper than the $49 upgrade price. You might wanna check out your local software outlets to see if you can find a similar deal.

On that note, I no longer like Surplus Direct. A couple of years ago, they used to be a great place to buy reconditioned hardware or old versions of software for great prices. After they merged with Egghead, though, they started getting away from what made 'em good. Now it seems like they're just yet another online computer store. Except for a small liquidation section, they just don't have it anymore. Given that PC Connection seems to have the ability to ship products before your finger is all the way off the "submit" button, I find that I just don't use 'em anymore. 'Tis a shame.
