Day 9 - Just Incredible

I brought my brother to see 'The Incredibles' today - mostly because I wanted to see it myself. It definately lives up to its name. Admitedly it is aimed at a younger audience but I still really enjoyed it. The action scenes are brilliant and some of the effects, like the daughter's shield, just look so damn cool. I'm definately going to buy it on DVD when it comes out. It really makes me want to get more into 3d gfx, maybe after this game.

It was indeed aimed at kids, but also realize that this was Pixar's first movie with a PG rating - all their other films have been rated G. I like that fact that they took the rating hit in order to make a proper super hero movie where guys get beat up, shot and crushed.

I don't think the rating hit will effect the movie too much. No-one who is too young to see a PG would be going by themselves anyway and the ads make it clear to parents what the film is like. It is my favourite Pixar film though. It's the only one I've really wanted to see again.

But because of the PG they were able to get more into the film than the violence - the "realistic" representation of the familly unit isn't quite appropriete for a happy-go-lucky G film but works brilliantly here. Plus the story had more similarities with Watchmen than any of the Marvel comics.
