Been fiddling around, doing testing of the updates to the Accidental Engine and some early versions of a lava/ashlands sort of tileset. Mostly been playing with multiple layers of cloud noise in the Gimp, and figuring out a good gradient color map based on a number of photos of volcanic lava flows. A very early initial lava prototype:

Just three layers of solid cloud noise combined in different ways and mapped with a gradient; nothing special. Looks okay, though, and it's a good start. I'll have to play with it some more.

I dug out poor, neglected little Golem3D and started fiddling with it, mostly just trying to re-familiarize myself with the code, since I haven't done much with it since starting the Accidental project. It's always instructional for me to take these sorts of sabbaticals from a project, since when I come back I am far more able to look at it in a more objective manner and pinpoint what is wrong with it. I'm not going to devote a whole lot of time to it until I polish off this Accidental thing, but it never hurts to fiddle a bit. I'm playing with some new ideas for camera control, and I'll be slightly restructuring some of the tiling stuff. Just tweaking, really...

I shaved my head today as well; but, then, that is my normal hairstyle... [grin]
