So, last night I stayed up and worked with OGRE, a tutorial that came with it actually. Although the tutorial was somewhat dated, I was able to get through it while mostly sticking to the code. However, I did spin off some of the tutorial's code from where it was (the water code was given its own frame listener). Then, I started getting creative. I added particle effects to make the thrusters look neat (thanks to the code from the skybox example). Next, I have to figure out how to take a heightmap for the nature scene manager and build a trimesh for ODE. I want to add collision detection so if I crash into the world, I don't fly out the other side.

My database class has a "real-life" assignment, building a client database for a paralegal firm that deals with traffic code violations. Team assignment, four bodies to a team. For the requirements stated in the doc (which aren't too well defined), it would take most teams seven weeks or more to complete satisfactorily. We apparently have two. Not even my miracle work can pull this one off.

I picked up Software Engineering for Game Developers yesterday while hanging out with Rob Loach. So far it's looking like a pretty good book, but I'm going to wait a while before I bother giving it a rating.
