An Old Game

While I'm doing nothing I thought I'd show you some screens of one of my first games. It is an RPG top down "Dragon Warrior" style game.

You are a young adventurer who, at night, gets swept away by a magical bubble. When you awake you find yourself on a mysterious island with an old wizard who sets you on a quest to prove your worth by battling the island beasties. After your training, you are sent to a cave where you encounter the wizard's tree. The tree tests you and binds your life force to its child - which at that stage is just a seed. And so on. That's where the game ends - leaving you wanting more.

It was made a long time ago with GDI and Visual Basic 5. Ancient! I made 2 cut scenes for it which gave it a tidy intro and ending. The total game size + resources came out to over 38 mb. So I haven't ever posted it - not that anyone would want to play it anyway. [smile] Here are the screens:

Visual Basic was great to start off with. I jumped into the scene right when it went turned 6.0. Now I just despise the language as it made me think every programming language is like the English language. Now I know the error of my ways.
