More on masking

Over at the Java Games Forums I was pointed to java.awt.image.RGBImageFilter which can filter a ARGB to any other ARGB... very cool, and very essential for that rendering method with color masking.

What should happen is that when you are in map maker mode, you export the map for game mode. The map consists of three things:
*A rendered graphic of the map
*A ColorMask
*Serialized map data

Then what the engine will do is:
*Copy the map to the drawing buffer
*Make bitmasks for each actor
*render the actors to the map with the bitmask

This will make it so that people could edit the rendered map, adding better details to it, AND the fps would be great...

anyway, waiting to get more information. I've already started making the classes that would be required for such a huge overhall of the tracker class....
