EXE size is okay. NeoLite compressed it down to 500k.

What's the difference between stuff like ball.png and ball_.png?

Can you load the bitmaps and sounds out of a windows resource rather than an external file? Not that it's that important for this experiment, but you'll want to do stuff like that for a packaged product, thus preventing folks from futzing with 'em.

What's bass.dll?

ball_.png is the alpha mask of ball.png, which is kind of a waste in this case, but usefull in other cases.

i don't know yet about loading from resources. the demos all load from file, so that's what i've been doing.

bass.dll is some dll needed by the sound code.
