I'm aiming for 10 kilometers. It's really hard to switch my brain off and just keep going. Perhaps I need to find a way to focus. The critical point of pain is around 6k, I'm yet to make it past 7 before my mind won't let me.

Fight it.

If your talking about CC, I always found the 7k mark to be the hardest. Once you get past 7k you can get the 10. However be warned: 10k hurts. bad.

As far as finding something to focus on: Memorize a couple of songs, and repeat them in your mind over and over. When your mind wonders off, start reciting those songs again...
