I need to think of some project to work on to actually get some practice and feel like I am achieving something. I would go to the help wanted forums and join an indie group, but I think I need some more skills.
Finally, I was able to actually write a program in C++ from scratch without looking anything up. Best of all, it worked :)

Takes some practice, but you'll get the hang of it. Just stick to the standards and don't be scared to look things up in your favourite book.
