SDL...

Well, Allegro has been giving me numerous problems, and I think its time that I switch to SDL. The fact that made me believe this was yesterday when I tried to write a logging system using C++ streams. Apparently, when you use any C++ file without a ".h" at the end, Allegro flips out. When you do put the .h, the fstream library doesn't like it. So, I ended up making the logging system the old C way.

This brings us to probably the biggist problem with Stompy. When I ran the program and exited, which by the way made the program crash, I read this in the log:

Quote:

Allegro Core Systems initialized...
Loaded Datafile...
Loaded game images...
Back Buffer created...
Initialization successful!

Now, this may look like it's working fine, but it's not. It should look like this:

Quote:

Allegro Core Systems initialized...
Loaded Datafile...
Loaded game images...
Back Buffer created...
Initialization successful!
All game resources freed...
All Systems shutting down...

You can see the problem immedietly. The game's resources are not being freed! So, it seems it is time to hunt for the one thing that is making the game crash. Wish me luck...

Don't ya just love bizarre mysterious bugs. I recently added sound effects in my game and now some of the houses aren't appearing. I turn the sound effects off and the houses appear again. garrgh!

Yeah, I know. Stompy crashes alot and I don't exactly know why. Nothing in the code immedietly pops out that suggests an error. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to look harder...[crying]
