More Glow Progress

My glow is looking better, but kinda grainy right now. I'm guessing part of the problem is my glow texture is only 256x256, and I stretch that over a screen that's 800x600. I was thinking that if I performed enough rendering passes, it would remove the grainy look, but right now I'm having problems with color wash if I perform more than a few passes:

Here's a shot of my effect with less passes, but has a much more pixelated look:

I think part of the problem with the first pic is that I'm using addative blending. I will play around with these settings and see what kind of results I get.
