The prerequisite for the class is Precalculus, but there seems to be a lot of people in the class that, while they may have passed the required course, have absolutely no clue what they're doing. An example question that someone asked on the forum:
How do I get a component on one side of the equation to the other when it's not already there?
Prerequisite in my mind means that you should actually know how to do what was in the course, am I right? The apparent lack of ability of some of these people irritates me as it slows the class down for those that do know what's going on. On Friday we spent over an hour on a 1-D Kinematic problem that should have been done in a matter of minutes.
What do you do, if anything, in situations like this? I've never been a confrontational person, i'm pretty quiet in person with people I don't know, but the entire class being brought to a near stop when these people don't know what's going on seems ridiculous. It's not the actual asking of questions, that's a good thing, but it's the actual questions that they're asking. GRRRR!
