I need another holiday

Got back from France yesterday evening...

Great holiday, might well put some pics up later when I've sorted through them (damn 512mb memory stick -> over 250 photos).

I need another holiday to recover.

So, anyway, get back into the office bright and early at 9am - sift through the boring/crap/useless emails. Out of 50 or so, only two were of real interest...

#1) "Please complete this expense claim" [grin]
I helped out a professor at the university with some stuff for the "Advanced Graphics Module". Basically some consulation/information on how the theory maps onto what can be done in real-time and more important what will be done.

Seems I can cash in on that - not that I have a problem with this.

#2) "No, you can't have a job - you're rubbish" [sad]
Don't think I've made a big thing of it as it's hardly exciting stuff from a games development POV but I'm a software engineer working for IBM. I'm currently working in their labs on a "sandwich" placement between my 2nd/3rd year at university.

Anyway, they opened up the graduate recruitment (What you do to get a job when you finish your degree) internally about a month ago. I didn't get through:

Quote:The standard of applications has been extremely high which has made it very difficult to select candidates for the next stage in our process. We can assure you we have considered your application most carefully but regret that we will not be pursuing it any further at this time.

Classic. I'm sure I've seen those exact same words used before...

Strangely I'm neither surprised or bothered at the moment. With my skills and experience I can get other jobs in suitably big companies doing stuff I probably would only do for the money...

Just that it's extra hassle for me in my final year... got modules, teaching, dissertation AND then have to look for a job. Fun.

I'm gonna go do some checking up of the forums - been out for 5 days, probably missed some really exiciting threads!

Welcome back!
I instantly noticed you were back after having noticed you've bombarded the DirectX forum with long, juicy replies [grin]

I was sitting in my hotel room, no computer, no internet, no GDNet, twitching and shaking. Family asked why, but they didn't understand [grin]

It's good to be back though[attention]

Idiots they are. Make them regret their folly, Jack.
Quote:In other news... It seems that my friend Daerax stole me colours. I'm considering legal action.

Thou doth spew blashpemy from thy mouth as a fountain doth water.

I trademark colors in journals here. There. They are my legal property now. You never explicitly trademarked them anywhere, It is you who infringes on my intellectual domain. Bring it.

And so it begins...
